Dr. Sofia Ziakou is Special Advisor at the Hellenic Banking Institute and Responsible for Financial Literacy Projects of the Hellenic Bank Association. In this capacity she is Member of the Financial Education Project Group of the European Banking Federation (FEPG EBF) and Member of the Board of the European Banking & Financial Services Training Association (EBTN).
She has studied international and European studies at Panteion University of Athens (2002) and holds an MA in “European Policy and Administration” (2004). In 2010 she was awarded her PhD on “European political conditionality clauses in practice” from the same University with scholarship from the Hellenic State Scholarships Foundation.
Dr. Ziakou has worked at the European Documentation Center (EDC) of Panteion University (2003-2006), where she was responsible for conducting tutorials and supervising the students. She organized the Annual Spetsae European Summer Academy (2004-2006) and edited some collective works for the Hellenic University Association for European Studies (EPEES) (2005-2006). She served as Executive Secretary and Research Associate of the European Center of Economic and Financial Law (ECEFIL) (2010 - 2017), and Associate of the Centre International de Formation Européen (CIFE) for the Summer School Program: China and Europe as Partners - law, politics, economics (2013-2017). She has participated in various Greek and European research programs.
